Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, crowned the winners of the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup. The championship, held over two days at the Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai, featured extensive participation from clubs and academies across the UAE.

The tournament served as a vital benchmark for assessing the preparedness of participating teams and the efficacy of their training programs. The event was characterized by high-octane bouts, disciplined performances, and a strategic focus on point-scoring to improve domestic season standings.

Final Results and Standings

The final day featured decisive contests across all age divisions:

  • Under-14: Palms Sports – Team 777 claimed the title.
  • Under-16: Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club secured first place.
  • Under-18: Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club topped the division.
  • Adults: Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club took home the gold after a series of intense matches that highlighted the narrow technical margins between the nation’s elite teams.

Dignitaries and leadership praise

The awards ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, alongside board members Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri and Yousef Abdullah Al Batran.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri congratulated the winning clubs and praised the athletes' high level of competitiveness. He also commended Shabab Al Ahli Club for hosting an event that met the prestigious stature of the competition.

"The Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup holds a special place in our annual calendar, combining competitive value with a strong developmental role," Al Dhaheri stated. "This edition showcased the scale of work being carried out by clubs and academies and highlighted several promising young talents ready for the global stage."

Club reactions

Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Chairman of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club, emphasized the importance of sportsmanship: "We place great importance on instilling respect for opponents and the rules. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our board, coaches, and athletes."

Obaid Al Kaabi, Board Member of Baniyas Sports Company, celebrated their victory in the Adult category: "Retaining the title was our main objective. The team delivered under pressure, and this result reinforces the depth of our squad."

Abdullah Al-Qama, Director of Jiu-Jitsu at Al Jazira Club, and Cassiano Cunha, Technical Director of Palms Sports - Team 777, both credited the UAE Federation's support and their respective rigorous training programs for their podium finishes.
