Tevez for Chelsea, Torres for City?

With the dust having hardly settled on the frantic transfer window that closed recently, football circles are agog with speculation that the January window could be even busier and even more dramatic.

Some of the biggest names of last year’s Premier League season, and indeed, still in world football are fast falling out of favour with their clubs.

The marquee line-up includes Fernando Torres, Dimitar Berbatov and the talismanic Carlos Tevez.

Berbatov and Tevez were top scorers in the Premier League last season and neither seems to be assured of anything other than a place on the bench right now.

Torres chose to strike out at his own club’s midfield, calling his Chelsea teammates “old and slow” rather than in front of goal, where he can’t seem to even buy one.

If the stalemate continues a January merry-go-round could be inevitable.

And the rumour mills are beginning to grind that big spenders City might look at Torres – for his perceived rapport with David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas might well be willing to swap Fernando for Tevez, who seems destined to stay in England for now.

A Tevez-Drogba strike force might just be the potency the Blues need.

Which leaves Berbatov. And if the Bulgarian and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson are to be believed, Berba is happy to sit on the bench for now.

Clubs across Europe are waiting and watching, though. Until January.
