Another poor performance by Arsenal has another Arsenal legend suggesting that Arsene Wenger has lost the plot.

Speaking to The Daily Mirror on Sunday (https://bit.ly/ob1lXX) Gunners legend Peter Storey, says that Wenger’s latest signings – Mikel Arteta, Yossi Benayoun, Park Chu-Young, Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos – are only papering over the cracks of a weakened team.

Storey said: “Arsenal have had a bad start and it seems like Wenger has panicked and he doesn’t normally do that, does he? He seems to have lost the plot. I mean, some of the people he’s bought, they’re not top quality, really.”

Storey, who played more than 500 games in defence and midfield for Arsenal and was capped 19 times for England, was not particularly impressed with Mertesacker (Werder Bremen) and Gervinho (Lille).

Other comments that Wenger has made in the run-up to yesterday’s fluke win over Swansea included him saying that his current squad is better than the one he had last year.

Just as well then he let go of Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Cesc Fabregas – who were all good enough for the biggest teams in the world – Manchester City and Barcelona.
