Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) began implementing a truck movement restriction from October 1, to ensure Dubai roads have better traffic flow and higher standards safety.
The truck movement restriction timings, however, can vary according to the traffic corridor, area and congestion levels on certain routes.
Here is all you need to know.
Round-the-clock ban
Several key roads and locations are subject to a round-the-clock ban, including:
- Airport tunnel
- Al Shindagha Tunnel
- Al Qudra Road
- Al Meydan Street
- All crossings
16-hour daily restriction
The following areas have a restriction on truck movement from 6am to 10pm every day:
- Sheikh Zayed Road
- Beirut Street
- Al Mizhar
- Muhaisnah
- Oud Al Muteena
Restriction during three peak hours
Some roads are subject to truck movement restrictions during three daily peak periods:
- 6:30 am to 8:30 am
- 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
- 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm
These restrictions apply to what RTA refers to ‘urban roads’, including:
- Airport Street
- Amman Street
- Damascus Street
Improving truck rest stops
These movement restrictions are being implemented as RTA continues to improve and increase the truck rest stops along key routes across Dubai.
One major exception
Emirates Road – E611 – is the only route where no truck movement restrictions are applied.
