Ahmed bin Rashid remembered for decades of service and contributions to Dubai

Dubai: Members of The Executive Council of Dubai have paid tribute to the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, highlighting his decades of service, contributions to key sectors and enduring legacy in Dubai.

Officials said Sheikh Ahmed left a lasting mark on the UAE through his national service, values and commitment to his country and community. Through the responsibilities and positions he held, he contributed to several vital sectors, with officials saying his achievements and legacy would remain part of Dubai’s collective memory.

They extended their condolences to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Al Maktoum family, and Sheikh Ahmed’s family and loved ones.

His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai, said the UAE and Dubai had lost a national figure who dedicated his life to serving the country and contributed to strengthening Dubai’s military and security sectors.

“Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum leaves behind a rich legacy of service across the various positions he held, and his contributions formed an important part of Dubai’s journey,” Al Basti said.

His Excellency Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of the Emirate of Dubai, also paid tribute to Sheikh Ahmed, recalling his life and the dedicated service he provided to his country and community across various fields.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Acting Director General of the Court of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai and Director General of the Department of Finance, praised Sheikh Ahmed’s character and contributions to Dubai and to the service of the country and community.

Al Saleh said Sheikh Ahmed belonged to a generation that contributed to Dubai’s development with dedication and generosity, leaving behind an enduring legacy.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said the UAE and Dubai had lost a prominent national figure who dedicated his life to serving his country and left a lasting mark on the emirate’s comprehensive development.

He said Sheikh Ahmed contributed to several vital sectors through the responsibilities he held, while his humanitarian and community initiatives touched the lives of many.

“Sheikh Ahmed’s contributions in the fields of security and sport, particularly football, equestrianism, horse racing and marine sports, represented significant milestones in his career,” Al Tayer said.

He highlighted Sheikh Ahmed’s role in strengthening Dubai’s security system through his position as Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed was also a prominent supporter of sport, Al Tayer said, noting his contribution to the development of football and his role in leading Al Wasl Club to local and regional championships, alongside his support for equestrianism and horse racing.

“Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will remain in the hearts and minds of the people of Dubai for his humility, generosity and loyalty, and for the distinguished legacy and national and humanitarian contributions he leaves behind,” Al Tayer said.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), said Sheikh Ahmed’s legacy would endure through his efforts and humanitarian initiatives, which had a positive impact on individuals, the community and those in need.

He said Sheikh Ahmed consistently sought to reinforce the values of generosity, solidarity and giving upon which the UAE was founded.

“Sheikh Ahmed was one of the national figures whose name became associated with serving the country and community,” Saeed Al Tayer said, adding that his humanitarian, charitable and national contributions would remain testament to a life of dedication and service.

His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, said the UAE had lost a respected national figure known for his generosity and the positive impact he had on Dubai, particularly through his support for sport and youth.

“Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s legacy will remain in the memory of Dubai and its people, bearing witness to decades of loyalty and belonging,” Al Marri said.

His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, recalled Sheikh Ahmed’s contributions to Dubai and its community.

He said Sheikh Ahmed belonged to a generation that witnessed important milestones in Dubai’s history, accompanied the emirate through its development and transformation, and contributed to the building and development efforts that strengthened Dubai’s position.

“Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will remain in the memory of Dubai and its people through the legacy of service he leaves behind,” Al Marri said.

“The contributions of the pioneering generation that witnessed the foundations of Dubai’s development and its transformation will remain an integral part of the emirate’s history and journey.”

His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, said Sheikh Ahmed was known for his good deeds and honourable character, adding that a person’s good works live on beyond their lifetime.

He said Sheikh Ahmed’s devotion to his family, country and community would remain part of his legacy.

Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai and a member of The Executive Council of Dubai, said Sheikh Ahmed’s passing represented a profound loss, recalling his character, standing and embodiment of the values of loyalty, belonging and generosity.

“Today, we bid farewell to a dear figure who left a positive impact and an enduring presence in the memory of Dubai and its people,” she said. “His life and what he gave to his country and community will remain in our hearts.”

Her Excellency Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), said people may pass away but the impact of what they contributed to their country remains.

She said Sheikh Ahmed’s contributions extended from security and national service to sport and equestrianism, adding that his achievements would continue to be remembered by Dubai and its people.

His Excellency Dr Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), said Dubai had lost one of its prominent figures whose life was closely associated with service to the country and community.

“His legacy will remain in our memory through the values of loyalty, belonging and dedication that he embodied,” he said.

His Excellency Abdulla bin Damithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai, also paid tribute to Sheikh Ahmed, recalling his long record of service and dedication to his country and leadership.

He said Sheikh Ahmed represented a generation that contributed with dedication to serving the country and community, adding that his memory would live on through his contributions to Dubai’s development.
