Dubai: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has launched its ‘Click and Travel’ service, allowing passport officers to complete passengers’ entry and departure procedures using mobile devices.
The service is aimed at speeding up procedures and improving the efficiency of passenger processing, particularly during peak periods and emergencies.
According to the authority, ‘Click and Travel’ uses biometric technology and facial recognition, electronic passport reading, automated pre-screening and instant access to information through a secure communications network.
The technology allows a passenger transaction to be completed in approximately 12 to 15 seconds.
More than 31,000 passengers processed during trial
During its trial phase, the service processed 31,373 passengers between its pilot launch in May and the end of August, as authorities tested its efficiency and expanded its use across Dubai airport terminals.
‘Click and Travel’ provides a mobile service that allows passport officers to process passengers within airport halls, giving teams greater flexibility to manage passenger movement and regulate flows during peak periods.
How the service was rolled out
The project went through several stages of development.
The first pilot phase began in October 2025, when the service was activated for passengers at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
A second trial phase began in May 2026, expanding the service to all categories of passengers across Dubai airport terminals.
The authority officially launched the service on September 7, 2026, making it available for UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals and visitors.
The launch is part of Dubai's efforts to use smart solutions and modern technologies to enhance the travel experience and simplify passenger procedures.
