Dubai: The Dubai Media Council has opened applications for the Mohammed bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students for the 2026–2027 academic year, aimed at developing a new generation of national media professionals.
The initiative reaffirms Dubai’s commitment to supporting young Emirati talent and equipping them with the skills needed to keep pace with rapid changes in the media sector, produce high-quality content, and strengthen the UAE’s global media presence.
Launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the scholarship is part of efforts to empower students with specialised education in communication and media fields.
The scholarship offers outstanding Emirati high school graduates the opportunity to pursue a fully funded undergraduate degree at the American University in Dubai’s Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication.
It covers programmes in journalism, digital production and storytelling, and game design and development, providing students with creative, technical, and analytical skills required in the evolving media landscape.
His Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, said the partnership with the university aims to invest in young talent that will shape the future of Emirati media.
Hesham Al Olama, CEO of the Media Development Sector at the Dubai Media Council, said strong academic training is essential to developing media professionals capable of building an effective national narrative.
Sophie Boutros, Executive Director of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication, said the scholarship continues to nurture talent for the UAE and the region, with graduates contributing across various media sectors.
Applications can be submitted through the official scholarship website, with supporting documents including academic transcripts, test scores, identification documents, and a creative portfolio.
The deadline for applications is June 30, 2026.
