Dubai: The Dubai Media Youth Council has concluded the Media and Diplomacy Capacity Building programme, organised in collaboration with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), to equip young Emirati talent with the specialised knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving media and diplomatic sectors. The programme also sought to prepare participants to represent the UAE confidently and professionally at local and international forums and events.

Delivered over 10 days, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to investing in young talent and empowering the next generation to help shape the future of the media sector, support the UAE’s development journey and strengthen the country’s global presence.

As part of the closing ceremony, participants attended a panel discussion entitled “Media in Times of Crisis”, which explored the role of media in crisis management, the importance of strategic communications in strengthening public trust in national institutions, and effective approaches to addressing misinformation and rumours. The session also highlighted best practices for developing effective communications that raise public awareness during crises and other exceptional circumstances.

Bringing together university students, recent graduates and aspiring professionals aged between 18 and 35, the programme featured a series of workshops, lectures and practical training sessions delivered by leading experts in media and diplomacy. Participants explored the foundations of diplomacy and the UAE’s foreign policy, communication and influencing skills, professional media engagement, strategic messaging and crisis communications. The experience strengthened their professional and leadership capabilities while enhancing their readiness to navigate emerging challenges in line with international best practice.

Commenting on the conclusion of the programme, Abdel Aziz Al Jasmi, Chairman of the Dubai Media Youth Council, said: “This programme reflects Dubai Media’s belief in the importance of investing in talented young Emiratis and equipping them with the tools needed for the future. Today, the integration of media and diplomacy has become one of the key drivers of strengthening a nation’s international presence and creating positive influence.

“Building capacity is not only about transferring knowledge; it begins with developing minds that can analyse, engage in meaningful dialogue and represent their country with confidence, awareness and responsibility. With this in mind, we designed the programme as an interactive platform that combines expert knowledge with practical application, enabling participants to develop their capabilities and gain a deeper understanding of the role that media and diplomacy play in advancing national interests. Ultimately, the programme is helping develop a new generation of Emirati talent equipped to advance national interests and strengthen the UAE’s position on the global stage.”

For her part, Sara Al Mansoori, Chairwoman of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy Youth Council, said the collaboration demonstrates the value of strategic partnerships that combine academic knowledge with practical learning to prepare young talent for an increasingly interconnected world.

We firmly believe that empowering young people is essential to preparing future national leaders with broad perspectives and the ability to represent the UAE with distinction while communicating its values and civilisational message to the world.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of completion, recognising participants for their commitment and active engagement throughout the 10-day programme. The collaboration reflects the continued commitment of the Dubai Media Youth Council and the
