Dubai Police impound vehicle over serious traffic violations
Traffic patrols managed to stop a vehicle engaged in reckless and dangerous stunt driving, including screeching tyres and deliberately raising the vehicle's noise level

Dubai Police has affirmed its commitment to maintaining public peace and improving quality of life in residential neighbourhoods by addressing negative traffic behaviours that disturb residents and threaten road user safety. These behaviours include reckless and careless driving, performing stunts, and noise caused by illegal vehicle modifications and loud engines.
The Force has warned of the dangers of such behaviours and their direct negative impact on community members – especially children, the elderly, and the sick – as they cause disturbance, anxiety, and disrupt residents' comfort. “These acts also breach public peace, harm quality of life in residential areas, and do not reflect the civilised conduct that distinguishes the emirate of Dubai,” they added.
Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that traffic patrols managed to stop a vehicle engaged in reckless and dangerous stunt driving, including tyre screeching and deliberately raising the vehicle's noise level. “This behaviour endangered the driver's life as well as the lives, safety, and security of others – in addition to causing noise disturbance to residents and damaging public property in Oud Al Muteena area. Such reckless traffic behaviour posed a danger to road users and created chaos and disturbance in the area,” he added.
Brig. Al Awar indicated that the noise from modified vehicles or performing stunts is not merely a traffic violation, but a negative behaviour that affects community comfort and the stability of residential neighbourhoods.
“It disturbs families and creates fear and anxiety among road users, especially when such acts are repeated in residential areas,” he said.
He further explained that the driver was identified and summoned, admitted to the acts, and as a result, the vehicle was impounded and legal measures were taken against him.
Brig. Al Awar pointed out that such behaviours are serious violations that Dubai Police addresses firmly due to their negative impact on traffic safety and public peace. He affirmed that the road is not a place for stunts or dangerous experiments, and that any misuse of the road will result in strict legal accountability – including vehicle impoundment and the application of Local Decree No. 30 of 2023, which imposes a fine of up to AED 50,000 for the release of impounded vehicles whose drivers have committed serious violations.
He stressed that Dubai Police will not tolerate such dangerous behaviours that threaten community safety and residents' comfort, affirming that traffic surveillance will continue to be intensified on various roads, in vital areas, and in residential neighbourhoods using field patrols and smart traffic monitoring systems.
Brig. Al Awar called on drivers to comply with traffic laws and regulations and to act responsibly while driving – to protect lives, property, and public peace. He highlighted the importance of community members reporting dangerous behaviour through the 'Police Eye' service on the Dubai Police app or by contacting the ‘We Are All Police’ programm on 901.
