Dubai Police urges parents to prioritise child safety during summer travel
Families advised to supervise children closely and understand local child protection laws when travelling abroad
Dubai: The Women and Child Protection Department at the General Department of Human Rights in Dubai Police has stressed the importance of providing continuous care, attention and supervision for children during summer holidays and travel abroad, highlighting the family’s vital role in ensuring children's safety and protection while outside the UAE.
Dubai Police warned families against neglecting children during summer vacations and overseas travel, emphasising the need for constant supervision and compliance with the laws and regulations of the countries they visit, particularly those with strict child protection legislation related to neglect and endangerment.
The force stressed that protecting children is both a legal and moral responsibility that falls on parents and guardians. It noted that some actions that may appear harmless, such as leaving children unattended in accommodation or failing to monitor them closely, could expose families to legal accountability in certain countries.
Dubai Police urged parents not to leave children unsupervised, to familiarise themselves with child protection laws in their destination country before travelling, and to maintain continuous communication with their children throughout the trip.
The authority also advised families to take the necessary precautions to protect children in public places and crowded areas, where the risk of becoming separated may be higher.
Dubai Police further highlighted the importance of keeping emergency contact numbers and the details of the UAE Embassy in the destination country readily available, helping ensure a swift response in the event of any emergency.
The force called on families to make the most of the summer holiday season in a safe and responsible manner that prioritises the wellbeing and protection of children.
