Dubai: Dubai Police has warned residents to remain vigilant against fraudulent insurance offers circulating on social media platforms, as scammers continue to target individuals with misleading advertisements and unusually low prices.

The alert was issued by the Anti-Fraud Centre at the General Department of Criminal Investigation as part of the ongoing #BewareofFraud awareness campaign.

Fraudsters exploiting demand for low prices

Authorities said fraudulent operators are promoting insurance products at significantly reduced prices compared to market rates, aiming to attract individuals seeking affordable deals.

These entities often claim to provide instant vehicle or health insurance services and encourage customers to transfer money quickly without verifying the legitimacy of the provider.

The Anti-Fraud Centre warned that such tactics are designed to deceive victims and obtain funds unlawfully.

Importance of verification

Dubai Police stressed that licensed insurance providers in the UAE operate under strict supervision and must follow approved procedures to issue policies and protect customer rights.

Members of the public were advised to verify whether insurance companies and brokers are officially licensed before making any payments.

Authorities also urged residents to avoid suspicious promotions that appear inconsistent with standard market pricing.

Reporting fraud

Dubai Police called on the public to report any suspected fraud attempts through the eCrime platform or by contacting 901 for non-emergency cases.

Officials emphasised that public awareness and prompt reporting are essential in combating financial fraud and protecting the community from scams.
