Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in cooperation with the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), has inaugurated Dubai Mobility Labs in Dubai Silicon Oasis, a dedicated facility for testing autonomous driving and future mobility technologies.
The facility is described as an integrated testing ground for autonomous and future mobility technologies.
According to the RTA, Dubai Mobility Labs provides 248 testing scenarios in controlled environments and on public roads.
The testing scenarios enable the evaluation of technologies, verification of their readiness, and support the transition from testing and development phases to operational deployment.
The testing programme covers a range of traffic situations, including:
Assessment of sensing and decision-making systems
Interactions with road users
Responses to changing surrounding conditions
Verification of vehicle readiness before testing and operation on public roads
The RTA said the project supports efforts to accelerate the adoption of autonomous driving and mobility technologies and enhance Dubai's readiness for future mobility solutions.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said the project's strategic importance extends beyond establishing a specialised testing ground and includes creating an integrated ecosystem that brings together vehicle manufacturers, technology developers, start-ups, research institutions and regulatory authorities.
