Sharjah: Starting today, July 1, 2026, Sharjah City Municipality will implement a decision to unify public parking fee timings across cities in the emirate. Paid parking will now operate until midnight in all areas in Sharjah, Kalba, Khor Fakkan and Al Dhaid, particularly in zones marked with yellow signs, bringing them in line with those marked with blue signs.
The municipality confirmed that parking will remain free on Fridays and public holidays, as before, except for spaces designated as paid throughout the week and on public holidays.
It explained that there are around 124,000 public parking spaces subject to fees in the emirate. Charges will apply from 8 am until midnight, with differences in the mechanism of operation and fee calculation compared to the smart parking zones across various areas, particularly tourist destinations.
The municipality confirmed that extending operating hours will not result in any increase in subscription fees. Subscribers will instead benefit from two additional hours daily, with the exemption period extended from 14 hours to 16 hours.
It noted that, amid ongoing economic and commercial growth, operating public parking until midnight has become necessary to enhance availability, reduce misuse, and address existing challenges. Seasonal subscription holders and visitors to restaurants and cafés often face difficulty finding parking after 10 pm, making system improvements essential to better serve residents and visitors.
The municipality added that the amendment aims to ensure optimal use of parking spaces, reduce random parking and enable better turnover, particularly in vital and commercial areas, to meet customer expectations and enhance services in residential and business districts.
Sharjah City Municipality called on the public to adhere to the designated parking timings and to pay fees through available channels, including SMS and the “Sharjah Digital” application. It also encouraged users to take advantage of seasonal subscriptions, which can be issued quickly and conveniently.
