Abu Dhabi: Tadweer Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Al Khail Square to design an integrated waste management framework tailored specifically to equestrian and recreational facilities, extending the reach of Abu Dhabi's circular economy agenda to various sectors. The collaboration will assess the full range of waste generated across the facilities and develop targeted pathways for responsible handling, treatment, and resource recovery.
Equestrian and recreational environments generate a distinct combination of waste streams, including high-volume organic and agricultural waste from daily operations, operational waste from facility management, and event-related waste from competitions and activations. Each stream requires specific collection, treatment, and recovery pathways that standard waste management frameworks rarely address.
Etienne Petit, Chief Executive Officer of Tadweer Group, said: "Our partnership with Al Khail Square, one of the emirate's most distinguished institutions, is a direct expression of Tadweer Group's commitment to bringing every sector into Abu Dhabi's circular economy. We will work together to assess the Club's operations and design a recovery framework that supports the emirate's 80% landfill-diversion goal by 2031. What we develop here will set the standard for how facilities of this kind are integrated into that system".

His Excellency Ali Al Shaiba, Director General of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Abu Dhabi Turf Club, CEO of Al Khail Square, commented: “This partnership with Tadweer Group enables us to embed waste management and resource efficiency as fundamental business practices at Al Khail Square. By working together on structured, scalable solutions, we're taking concrete action toward our long-term vision of responsible resource use and circular economy principles demonstrating that sustainability is central to how we operate."
The MoU demonstrates the potential of cross-sector collaboration, leveraging combined expertise and capabilities to unlock opportunities that create operational and environmental value, and supporting Abu Dhabi’s sustainability and circular economy priorities. It reflects a practical replicable approach to applying circular economy principles within specialised facilities, embedding responsible waste management and resource recovery into day-to-day operations.
