The observations were conducted through a network of approved observatories supervised by institutions and centres specialising in space and astronomy sciences, in cooperation with the International Astronomy Center’s “Sighter of the Seal”, “Sighter of Dubai” in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, and “Sighter of Sharjah” in cooperation with the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology.

This, it said, enhances the accuracy of the process and the reliability of its results, reflecting the country’s approach to leveraging science and technology in the service of society.

Based on the confirmed sighting, the council announced that Monday, May 18, 2026, is the first day of Dhu Al-Hijjah 1447 AH, and that Wednesday, May 27, 2026, will be the first day of Eid Al-Adha in the United Arab Emirates.
