Dubai: The Ministry of Interior has urged all drivers travelling by road to fully adhere to traffic safety procedures, emphasising that the maximum permissible height for loads on vehicle roofs is 60 cm.
The Ministry, represented by the Federal Traffic Council, has launched its third traffic campaign for 2026 under the slogan “A Summer Without Accidents”, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and reduce accidents and injuries during the summer season. The campaign will run for three months and targets all road users and drivers of vehicles of all types.
The Ministry stated that the campaign coincides with the start of the summer holiday and travel season, underscoring the need for increased awareness of safety precautions for both vehicles and road users. This includes ensuring tyre safety and carrying out regular maintenance, adhering to permitted load limits, checking the functionality of lighting systems and indicators, and avoiding leaving flammable materials inside vehicles.
The campaign also focuses on raising awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, promoting a culture of safe driving and contributing to reducing traffic accidents during the summer.
It will be implemented in cooperation with police general commands, strategic partners and relevant traffic safety authorities nationwide, using social media platforms in Arabic, English and Urdu to reach the widest possible audience and support national road safety goals.
The Ministry noted that the penalty for overloading or allowing cargo to protrude beyond permitted limits in light vehicles without authorisation is AED 500 and four black points. Additionally, a fine of AED 500 applies for spillage or falling objects from light vehicle cargo.
