Dubai: After a brief spell of rising heat earlier this week, residents can expect an ever so slight dip in temperatures over the next couple of days, offering short-lived relief, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Dr Ahmad Habib, meteorologist at the NCM, explained that the increase in temperatures earlier this week was driven by hot southerly winds pushing warm air across the country, particularly affecting internal areas.

“Now, we are seeing a shift,” he said, noting that northwesterly winds moving in from the north are bringing a modest drop in temperatures.

This change is expected to lower temperatures by around 3 to 4°C, especially along coastal areas, with the slightly cooler conditions continuing through to Saturday, April 25.

What to expect

Residents across inland areas can expect temperatures between 36°C and 41°C, while coastal regions will see slightly milder conditions ranging from 33°C to 37°C over the next few days. However, the reprieve will be temporary.

From Sunday, temperatures are forecast to rise again as southerly winds return, bringing warmer air back into the region.

A typical mid-spring pattern

According to Dr Habib, these fluctuations are normal for this time of year.

“We are now in the middle of the spring season and approaching summer, which begins on June 21,” he said, adding that temperature swings linked to changing wind directions are common across the Middle East and Arabian Gulf during this period.

While cooler winds can occasionally moderate conditions, the broader trend remains clear. Temperatures will continue to rise gradually in the coming weeks as the region transitions into summer.
