Dubai: Don’t forget your sunscreen today. The mercury is sliding up again, in Dubai, and it will feel like it’s three degrees hotter than it actually is, because of rising humidity levels.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), today’s weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with temperatures gradually increasing, especially westward, in regions like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Humidity is expected to build up by nighttime and on Friday morning to 90% over some coastal areas, which is why the NCM forecasts a high probability of fog or mist formation.
Temperatures in the low-40s
Temperatures are increasing to the low-40s across the UAE today, although it may feel much warmer than expected due to high humidity levels.
Abu Dhabi will reach 42°C today but feel like 45°C, while Dubai will see a high of 41°C and feel like 44°C. Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 40°C. Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah will experience 37°C temperatures, while Ajman will remain the coolest emirate today, at 36°C.
Moderate sea conditions
The NCM forecasts light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times, and reaching speeds of up to 30km/h along the coast.
The sea is forecast to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, which means you can expect gentle waves reaching heights of up to two feet on-shore and up to three feet off-shore.
