US consulate in Italy evacuated after bomb alert

The U.S. consulate in central Milanwas evacuated on Tuesday after a bomb alert, a police officersaid.

Police were still on the premises after being called in byconsulate employees when they received a suspicious letter thatmentioned an explosive device, the officer said.
