Firefighters rescued passengers who were trapped in an inundated bus in torrential rain in Liaoyang City, northeast China on Tuesday.

The bus broke down suddenly under a bridge where torrential rain caused serious waterlogging on Tuesday afternoon. The water was nearly two meters deep and 30 people were trapped in the vehicle.

The water inside the bus had reached people's chests when the firefighters arrived at the scene for rescue work. Moreover, the water level was rising because the heavy rain continued.

The firefighters transferred the passengers to boats and took them to safe places.

However, the boats could hold only one or two trapped passengers at a time. The firefighters used giant excavators to transfer the people.

All the trapped were evacuated two hours later, and no one was seriously injured, according to local reports.
