Father stops wedding... so step-dad can help him walk bride down aisle

Planning for wedding day joy often comes with pain, when you're the step-father of the bride.

"Every time we tried on tuxes - or did some planning - it crossed my mind that I'd be sitting in the crowd, not walking her down the aisle," said Todd Cendrosky - stepfather to Brittany Peck.

But as everyone was awaiting the wedding march, Brittany's dad walked up to wedding photographer Delia Blackburn with a message.

"He told me: I'm going to do something special. Be ready," Blackburn said.

"For me to thank him for all the years of helping raise OUR daughter wouldn't be enough. There is no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking her down the aisle," said Brittany's biological father Todd Bachman.

Stepdad Todd was tuxed up, the music was cued up - then he felt a tug at his arm.

"He came and grabbed my hand, and said: 'You worked as hard as I have. You'll help us walk our daughter down the aisle. I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life the most impactful moment in my life."

"Obviously the pictures show the moment," Bachman said.

The pictures taken by Blackburn have gone viral since she put them on Facebook - more than 12-million views in the first 30 hours.

By Tuesday afternoon, the photos had reached nearly 53 million page views, 505,000 shares, over 1 million likes and 46,000 comments. They were trending on Yahoo, NBC, ABC, CNN, HLN, Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, Metro UK and Australian News.

But merging two families wasn't always so well received. During the last fourteen years, there have been tough stretches.

"It hasn't always been peaches and cream...by any stretch of the imagination," Bachman said.

But never in that same imagination could they foresee their story going viral.

"A lot of families can relate to our situation," Bachman said.
