Video: 3 date boxes sold for Dh111,000

Three date boxes were sold for SR111,000 (Dh111,000) at a palm date festival in Saudi Arabia, triggering angry public reactions.

A YouTube film published by 'Sada' newspaper showed the boxes were sold in an auction at festival in the Eastern Isha province this week.

“How comes three boxes of date are sold at this prime rate. It seems that camel laundering has shifted to dates,” said Walid Al Amoudi, according to the paper.

“Why these dates are sold for SR111,000? Are they from paradise?,” asked Mazrou Al Mazrouhe.
