Video: 4K Dubai Flow Motion goes viral

A Flow Motion video depicting Dubai in its splendid beauty has gone viral over social media platforms Vimeo and YouTube, garnering hundreds of thousands of views in just a few days since being published.

The video has been shot in rich 4K by British urban filmmaker Rob Whitworth, who is best known for his manipulation of time-lapse photography to showcase various global locations in mesmerising details.

The 3:06-minute video showcases a number of Dubai landmarks, from Burj Khalifa and the dancing fountains to Downtown Dubai and sand dunes in the desert, taking the viewer on a seamless ultra HD journey that tries to seamlessly captivate Dubai in its essence.

“My first impressions of Dubai were consumed with the spectacle of super tall buildings jutting out of the desert sands, however the lasting impression was the wonder of the desert, and its importance to the Emirati people,” says Whitworth.

“Dubai may be home to the world’s most outrageous skyline but Dubai’s desert dunes and historical creek are where you’ll find the city’s heart,” the maker of the timeless Dubai time-lapse video says. The video was shot over a period of three months.

“This video comes with the promise of vertigo but ultimately captures the unique energy of Dubai, a city where the warmth of its people tempers the steel of its awe inspiring structures... some of which we encounter up close,” he says.

According to his website, Whitworth’s recent major projects include shoots for the upcoming 'One Planet' series for the BBC Natural History Unit, a Facebook video for Nike set in San Francisco, a viral video of Barcelona commissioned by the Catalan tourism board, a promotional film documenting McDonalds entry into the Vietnamese market, and a 30-second introduction for Tiny Times 3, a Chinese language blockbuster film that reached number 3 in the international box office charts on its opening weekend.

It notes that his works have gained widespread critical acclaim, and received over 10 million online views.
