Three Emiratis allegedly tricked a 23-year-old compatriot into a house and confined and assaulted him there for refusing to be a friend of one of them, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, AHM, 23, testified that on September 2, 2012 at around 9pm he met the three accused in Al Qusais area.

“I knew KGH, 29, a little while I did not know the other two at all. However, KGH’s brother IMO used to call me but I did not answer his phone calls because I did not know him.  One day, I called KGH and asked him to tell his brother not to annoy me with his calls.

“After meeting at Al Qusais, I went with KGH to the house of IMO which was an old Arabic style house with three rooms. KGH and IMO tricked me into the latter’s house. We were talking amicably at the beginning but later they became upset with me.

“IHA came in and the three prevented me from moving, made me sit on a chair and started beating me up with various things including a soft drink can and a chair. They also applied electric shocks on my body. They also tried to get me strung with a rope but I resisted them. They continued beating me up until 4am after stealing my mobile and Dh700. At 4am, IMO asked me to accompany him. He drove me to Umm Al Quwain and then to Fujairah where he released me,” he testified.

On the same day morning, the victim was rushed to hospital by his relatives to be treated for injuries on his face and body. The attackers were reported to the police.

“We raided their houses and arrested them. We confiscated different tools including a knife, a rope and wooden bar besides the chair on which they had tied him,” a police officer testified.

The Court will reconvene on April 10.
