Latest rumours say Apple could come out with two new variants of the iWatch even as mass production is expected to start within the next two to three weeks.
According to tech blog Pocketnow, Apple could come out with a sports model and a designer model of the new iWatch.
Quoting a source familiar with the matter, the report says that the sports version will have a rectangular design and a rubber strap.

The designer variant on the other hand will have a circular design with a metallic finish and a stainless steel strap.
Meanwhile according to Reuters, Apple is expected to kickstart mass production of the iWatch next month for a possible October launch.
Last week it was reported that Apple could announce its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 possibly in the last week of July and roll out the product into the market by the first week of October. It looks like iPhone will not be the only product Apple could launch.
Has Apple’s iPhone 6 production hit the (sapphire) glass ceiling?
The Reuters report quoting a source familiar with the process said that Apple expects to ship 50 million units within the first year of the product's release.
The rumours of an iWatch have been floating around since 2012 and it is only now that it looks like Apple is finally ready with the product.

In December last year Macrumours had quoted a Chinese report about a possible October 2014 launch of the iWatch along with wireless charging capabilities.
Since then, there have been multiple leaks about the possible features of the iWatch.
According to the source from Quanta Computer, the device measures 2.5 inches diagonally with a slightly rectangular shape and could feature wireless charging capabilities. The battery on the iWatch could last anywhere between 4 to 5 days.
The device could also come equipped with ten different sensors enabling it to track health-related metrics including steps, heart rate, sleep quality and much more.
A look at the Healthkit app launched by Apple along with the iOS 8 announcement will give a clear understanding of what the iWatch could be capable of.
