On lease in UAE: iPhone 6s @ Dh265; iPhone 6s Plus @ Dh290

There’s good news for Apple fans in the UAE.

Not only will we be able to pre-order the hot new iPhone 6s and its bigger cousin iPhone 6s Plus starting tomorrow (October 2), but sources have confirmed that UAE telecom operator Etisalat will offer the new Apple devices on 24-month lease to residents in line with Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program.

Globally, Apple’s retail stores in the US offer qualified customers a choice of unlocked iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus with the opportunity to get a new iPhone annually and AppleCare+ as part of the new iPhone Upgrade Program with monthly payments starting at $32 (Dh118) and $37 (Dh136), respectively.

According to the Etisalat list shared with Emirates 24|7 by an industry source who did not wish to be identified, customers will be able to lease the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s on monthly rentals of Dh265 (6GB), Dh400 (64GB) and Dh650 (128GB).

The 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus, on the other hand, will be available at Dh290 (16GB), Dh425 (64GB) and Dh675 (128GB) monthly.

In addition, Etisalat will also offer free monthly data allowance of 5GB, 10GB and 20GB, respectively to customers who lease the new iPhones from the telco.

Earlier this week, the Cupertino-based firm said the new devices will be available in more than 40 additional countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, where the new smartphones will be available starting October 10.

The timing seems interesting, with the region’s biggest technology shopping festival – the Gitex Shopper in Dubai – ending on October 10, the day the new iPhones will be official available in the UAE.

However, several online retailers have already been taking pre-orders for the new devices, while brick-and-mortar retailers will be doing so at the upcoming Gitex Shopper, with delivery starting October 10.

Like in the past, Etisalat will host a special midnight launch of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus at 12.01am local time on the day of the devices’ official availability (Saturday, October 10), in key Etisalat Business Centres and retail outlets.

Etisalat will be selling iPhone 6s in the UAE at Apple’s officially suggested retail price of Dh2,699 (16GB), Dh3,099 (64GB), Dh3,499 (128GB).

The iPhone 6s Plus will be available at Dh3,099 (16GB), Dh3,499 (64GB) and Dh3,899 (128GB).

The devices are available in silver, space gray, rose gold and gold colours.
