Apple discontinued the sale of its original iPad mini (the first edition) from the app stores across the world. Apple first introduced the iPad mini in 2012 to take on the challenge posed by Samsung in the smaller sized tablet segment.

Samsung new tablet comes in two screen sizes: 8 inches and 9.7 inches, with the latter equipped with an optional enhanced S-Pen.

According to Samsung, the new tablet offers a 21 per cent faster processor over the Galaxy Tab 4, a thinner body at 7.5mm, 4:3 screen ratio and 5MP autofocus rear-camera and a 2MP forward facing camera.

The interesting part of the new series is its pricing. The Galaxy Tab A is available in three variants, the 8.0” (LTE) T355 that costs Dh1,199, the 9.7” (LTE) T555 is priced at Dh1,399 and the 9.7” with S Pen (LTE) SM-P555 at Dh1,599.

In comparison, the 16 GB Apple iPad mini 2 is priced at Dh1,149 while the iPad Mini 3 is priced at Dh1,499 while the much more powerful iPad Air 2 starts at Dh1,899.
