Apple raises buzz on digital textbooks
Rumours of an Apple text book has emerged after the company sent out invitations for a special education announcement” next Thursday.
With iPad3 not expected until March and iPhone 5 until much later, the buzz is that this time around it is got to do with books.
The company has sent out invitations to an “education announcement” at the Guggenheim Museum, in New York on January 19th.
The invitation simply reads “Join us for an education announcement in the big Apple” and does not disclose any specific information.
According to The New York Times the event will not have anything to do with the introduction of new hardware and could only focus on digital textbooks.
Quoting someone with knowledge of the event the report said that event will showcase a new push by Apple into the digital textbook business, but will not feature any new devices.
Reports have indicated that the initiative will be related to iBooks aimed at schools, with a possible association with iTunes U, that has been making lectures, lessons and other educational content available online.
