Dubai's Juma Al Majid Group hiring 1,500 new employees

Dubai-based family-owned conglomerate Juma Al Majid Group is looking to hire 1,500 new employees in 2015-16 as it expands its existing unit and also forays into new verticals, said a senior official.

In an interview with Emirates 24l7, Abduselam Hamde, Group Chief Strategy and Group Chief Human Capital Officer, said: “Growth opportunities are available across Juma Al Majid Group units. However, the main units with increasing opportunities for (job) growth are in the commercial sector, contracting sector and in Al Majid Properties. The total employee strength of the group is 8,500-plus and our anticipation for 2015 and 2016 is to employ 1,500 new recruits.”

The group has currently nearly two dozen subsidiaries catering different sectors. Its latest is the launch of the new hotel management company.

The well-diversified group will be looking at hiring to fill positions for different segments across its subsidiaries from local and overseas markets.

Abduselam Hamde said with the hospitality wing opening up, there will be more opportunities for UAE nationals and expatriates to be employed with the Group which will recruit skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled manpower from the local market and abroad.

“We are recruiting UAE nationals and we have identified and developed learning and development programmes for the new recruits to progress in their career path. We encourage UAE nationals to apply online to Juma Al Majid Career Center for current positions and we will reply speedily,” he added.

As part of the hospitality strategy, Juma Al Majid Group has also established its hotel management company that would be the umbrella for the hotels belonging to the Group, said Mohammad Saadeddine, Group Chief Finance Officer & Chairman of the Joint Venture Committee and Member of the Executive Committee of Juma Al Majid Group.

“Our projection for hotel categories is 3, 4 and 5-star keeping in line with the inbound tourism targets of Dubai Tourism. We will add 1,000-plus new keys in our hotel portfolio’, said Saadeddine.
