Emirates, one of the world’s fastest-growing international airlines, announced on Thursday it had renewed its sponsorship with Hamburger SV for another three seasons until June 2015, highlighting its ongoing commitment to Germany and to sports around the world.

In addition to being the football club's main shirt sponsor, the deal includes prominent branding at Imtech Arena, the home of HSV, as well as promotional and hospitality rights.

“The renewal of our sponsorship with HSV underlines Emirates’ commitment to sports fans worldwide, but especially to our customers in Germany”, said Salem Obaidalla, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe & Russian Federation.

“Our partnership with such a popular club, enjoying a fan base across our vast route network, brings Emirates closer to football enthusiasts globally. We wish HSV all the best.”

Volker Greiner, Emirates’ Vice President North & Central Europe, HSV CEO Carl-Edgar Jarchow and HSV CMO Joachim Hilke made the announcement at a media conference in Hamburg.

“Emirates is an exciting global brand and its presence has become a familiar sight at top sporting events around the world,” said HSV CEO Carl-Edgar Jarchow. “We are proud that Emirates continues its relationship as main sponsor, taking us right through to 2015. It is a partnership with mutual benefits and we are very happy since both our brands share common goals like passion for excellence. This sponsorship underlines the airline’s commitment to Germany and the desire to be part of the community and the social fabric of Hamburg,” Jarchow added.

Emirates is a major investor in Germany and plays an important role in the multi-billion dollar trade relationship between Germany and the UAE.

In November, Emirates became the first foreign carrier to offer a scheduled A380 service to Germany, deploying its much admired double decker to Munich. Germany is one of the key countries involved with the production of A380s, supporting 40,000 jobs in Germany alone.

The airline now operates 60 flights a week to Germany, serving Munich, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, which is now a triple daily service, and Hamburg where Emirates operates the largest First and Business Class Lounge in continental Europe.

The international airline of the UAE has been the main sponsor of HSV, a German Bundesliga club, since 2006. Emirates’ impressive football sponsorship portfolio also includes Arsenal, PSG, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Olympiacos, the Asian Football Confederation and the Saudi Professional League.

Emirates is Official Partner of FIFA, the Official Airline of 14 international golf tournaments and supports a range of high-profile horse racing, tennis, rugby, sailing, and cricket events across the globe.
