Empost eyes foreign missions
After handling passport and visa services for the Indian mission in the UAE, Empost, the national courier company, is in talks with other foreign mission to take on similar jobs, company CEO has revealed.
“Our experience in handling passport and visa matters of the Indian Embassy and Consulate has given us valuable experience in handling outsourced consular work. We are now talking to other consulates and embassies to offer the total solution. As we run a 12- hour operation (8 am to 8 pm) it makes sense for foreign missions to outsource the visa and passport jobs to us,” Sultan Al Midfa told Emirates 24/7.
Empost is a subsidiary of Emirates Post Group Holding.
“More significantly, as we are part of a Federal organisation, we can ensure full security and confidentiality of information,” he emphasised.
Empost also handles one-way delivery services for the consular missions of Jordan, Syria, the Philippines, Germany (Abu Dhabi) and the Netherlands.
This website reported in December 2010 that Empost was looking to renew its existing contract with the Indian mission as per existing terms and conditions. It estimated that Empost handles an estimated 200,000 Indian passports and 80,000 visa applications.
