Hundreds of jobs for expatriates have opened up at the Swiss multinational food and beverage company Nestlé’s upcoming $120 million (Dh440.4 million) Dubai factory which will be operational later this year.

The company said the process has been initiated to recruit 400 expat workers from 18 countries which include a number of positions for women as well. The additional workers will more than double its exiting employee base.

“The recruitment has already started and the first group of employees will start in July 2015 and the rest of the employees will continue to join in groups until end of 2015. The recruitment team travelled to several countries, predominantly in Asia to ensure diversity in nationalities and skillsets,” Nestlé Middle East Chairman and CEO Yves Manghardt told Emirates 24l7.

With offices across the UAE, Nestlé UAE employs more than 350 people from different parts of the world, while providing indirect employment to more than 300. The company’s salaries and social welfare expenses totalled $200 million in 2014.

Nestlé Dubai has a manufacturing in TechnoPark producing milk powder, chocolate and culinary.

“To date, the recruited employees that are expected to join the factory come from 18 different nationalities, predominantly Asian countries. The recruitment at the factory is done in a way to foster opportunities for both men and women. Recruitment is open to women in operational positions in compliance with and within the limits of local legislation,” Manghardt said.

Since the factory is equipped with the latest machinery, the company will also be hiring skilled and specialised workers.

“The factory has advanced machinery and operations procedures and this requires a high level of on-the-job skills and expertise, and most importantly a work experience that focuses on hygiene and safety. The employees will occupy several roles such as operators, supervisors, and quality assurance,” he added.

The factory, which will produce coffee and culinary products, will be established in Dubai World Central. The Fortune-500 company’s major products are Nido, Maggi, Nescafé, Kit Kat, Coffeemate, Cerelac, Pure Life, Nespresso and many more.

Nestlé Middle East, which owns and operates 18 factories and provides direct employment to more than 11,000 people, invested $400 million across the region in the last five years.
