OSN hikes TV packages by 4 to 20%; users can cancel

OSN, one of the region's leading pay-TV network, will be increasing prices of its various packages by 4 to 20 per cent from February 1.

“As of 1 February, OSN are increasing the price of some of their packages,” du, the telecoms provider, said in an sms.

du’s website reveals that price of Pinoy Prime package will be Dh118 per month for a primary subscription compared to the current Dh98 per month, an increase of 20 per cent.

Charges for the primary subscription of Pinoy Plus Extra will jump by 11 per cent to Dh152 per month as against Dh137 per month.

Primary subscription of the Firstnet Premium and Al Jazeera package will be hiked by 16.77 per cent to Dh174 per month from Dh149 per month.

The du website, however, states that there be will no cancellation fee provided the request for cancellation is made within a month’s time.

“Should you wish to cancel your existing subscription, you can do so without incurring any cancellation fee if you can within 30 days; by March 3, 2014,” the company website said.

However, consumers were not very pleased.

"I did receive a SMS notification. But there was no reason cited for the increase - is it justified or not? asked Rajiv Singh, a Dubai resident.
