UAE signs 3 more deals worth Dh1.470bn at Umex

The UAE on Monday signed more three deals worth over Dh1.47 billion with local and International companies on the second day of Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (Umex 2016), at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

The announcement was made at a press conference by Brigadier-General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of Umex and the pilot edition of the Simulation Conference and Exhibition 2016.

Dh1.327 billion contract was also signed with Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments Company (ADASI) to buy a number of eight drones, 31HH, equipped with day and night cameras, radars and telecommunication devices, in addition to training, spare parts and maintenance.  

Also today a deal regarding training helicopters pilots at Baker Australian College was concluded at Dh143. 3m, and a contract worth about Dh992, 000 was signed with Aeryon Labs Inc. to buy SkyRanger small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).

Al Shamsi said, "We deal with the UAE companies on the basis of competition with other International companies. The decision is taken by benchmarking and comparison. We sort and select the best product."

He noted that the UAE companies have been manufacturing these products, citing the UAE company Adasi, which is well-known for communicating with local and international companies.

Commenting on the deals, Al Shamsi, said there were meetings between the companies and the delegations about the issue. He added that the UAE is hub for civil and military exhibitions and conferences. "Countries can utilise this hub which supports the sector in the UAE."

He said that many companies this year have shown their interest to participate at the next conference and exhibition by 2018. "We hope by 2018, there will be more participation, bigger land area and more products to showcase."

The volume of deals signed at Umex and the pilot edition of the Simulation Conference and Exhibition 2016 during the two days hit Dh2.237bn.
