The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has launched  Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network, an initiative to serve as the focal point for companies to share and exchange best practices in implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) amongst like-minded firms in Dubai.

This network, launched through DCCI’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB),  will offer companies the opportunity to take the lead in implementing CSR and to network, learn, share experiences, and engage in dialogue.

It aims to fill the gap that exists for real change and business-led direction in CSR.

“The Sustainability Network endeavours to develop business-driven and action-based projects to address CSR challenges and demonstrate CSR action in UAE. This network will bring together businesses and CSR practitioners to take forward projects that focus on CSR related solutions and frameworks for businesses,” said a statement.

The key objectives of the network are to raise awareness on CSR amongst the business community and facilitate exchange of best practices in CSR among businesses and other stakeholders with the view to disseminate experiences and solutions in CSR.

The network will give businesses an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in advocating and exemplifying responsible business practices in Dubai and to discuss and strategize on various CSR topics and issues with different stakeholders.

Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber said that the new network initiative will  reinforce the chamber’s position as the CSR leader in the country by forming a cutting edge networking group and facilitating the emerging multi-stakeholder dialogue about the changing role of business in the society.

“The CRB Sustainability Network, which provides an opportunity to companies to network, collaborate and contribute towards the sustainability agenda of Dubai, will also allow them to become role models. The members will get access to local and global CSR learning resources and tools, trainings and networking events, advisory services and the CSR Label as well as a variety of other benefits.”

The Centre for Responsible Business, which was formed in 2004, is the longest standing centre promoting business responsibility in the UAE.
