Dubai continues to attract global corporate players as two new major companies from the UK have announced opening offices in the emirate, strengthening the emirate’s status as a regional hub for multinationals.

Lloyd's has announced the official opening of a new specialist underwriting platform in Dubai to provide tailored risk solutions across the Middle East.

The specialist underwriters in Dubai will provide cover across a diverse range of risks. “An important part of Lloyd's Vision 2025 strategy is to expand our presence into developing and growth markets around the world. The Lloyd's Dubai platform gives us a presence in the heart of the Middle East,” said Vincent Vandendael Lloyd's Director of International Markets.

“This is an important region, with strong economic growth and rates of investment, but little insurance to protect that investment. Lloyd's can play an important role in de-risking this by providing innovative insurance solutions."

Leading UK legal business DWF has also announced opening an office in Dubai, the first office outside the UK and Ireland. DWF will launch its Dubai office with a team of four including two partners who will advise on contentious and non-contentious construction matters, professional indemnity and non-marine insurance work.
