Dubai, the region’s business hub, received nearly Dh20 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2015 and more than two thirds of the funds came from Saudi Arabia, the US, the UK, India and Kuwait.

Official figures showed 279 new projects were set up in Dubai last year, with a total value of about Dh20 billion, an increase of 16 per cent of the 240 projects in 2014.

The figures by the government-owned Investment Corporation of Dubai showed FDI by those five countries totaled around Dh14.9 billion in 2015, accounting for nearly 76 per cent of the total FDI in the emirate during that period.

They showed most of the projects were set up by the US, India, Germany and Switzerland, with a total of 168 projects, nearly 60 per cent of the new projects established in the emirate last year.
