Spain's Banco Bilbao Vizcaya has initiated measures to apply to the UAE Central Bank for opening a representative office in Abu Dhabi during the current year.
The issue was raised during a meeting between Dr. Hisa Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to Spain, and top executives of the bank, one of the leading players in Spain's banking industry.
The bank will focus its core operations on Spanish investment in the UAE.
The UAE ambassador welcomed the bank's investment to the UAE and referred to the business opportunities and the high profile of the UAE at the global and regional financial markets.
