Empower, the largest district cooling provider in the Middle East, has launched an Dh15 million project to upgrade the capacity of its district cooling plant at Business Bay Executive Towers.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO Empower
The upgrade, which is expected to be completed in early 2014, will involve adding one module comprising two chillers to the existing eight modules. Once completed, the plant will have a total capacity of 45,000 RT to provide to its new customers in the mixed-use development of Business Bay. This is a 14 per cent increase.
“The upgrade of our district cooling plant in Business Bay marks a significant milestone in Empower’s growth. Adding further capacity not only shows our commitment to meeting the requirements of our new customers, but also highlights our support for a greener Dubai,” said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
“Business Bay is an extremely vibrant area and one of Dubai’s ever-expanding business and residential districts. As such, it is vital that we meet the cooling requirements of all who live and work there to ensure their comfort,” he added.
A joint venture between DEWA and Dubai Technology & Media Free Zone, Empower currently provides district cooling services at several prominent developments in Dubai, including Dubai International Finance Centre, Dubai Healthcare City, Business Bay Jumeirah Beach Residences, Al Khail Gate and Ghuroob Mirdif.
