India’s Essar Steel Processing and Distribution (ESPD), part of Essar Steel, has commissioned a service centre facility in Dubai to cater to the needs of customers in Middle East and neighbouring region. This is Essar’s third facility after the UK unit for Europe and the Indonesia plant for to East Asian market.
With the Dubai unit, ESPD has ramped up its international service centre capacity to 1 million tonnes.
Located in Jebel Ali Free Zone South, Dubai, UAE, the facility comprises three facilities including a hot rolled cut-to-length, hot rolled slitter and cold rolled and galvanised steel combination line.
Vikram Amin, ESPD’s executive director (sales and marketing), said: “Middle East is a natural market for us since we are located on the west coast of India. The facility at Dubai is part of our distribution strategy to enhance our customer reach and increase reliability of delivery.”
Essar's new Dubai facility has a processing capacity of 250,000 tonnes. Besides meeting local demand in the UAE, the processed material will also be shipped by road to other GCC countries.
