Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini & Galaxy S4 Mega launches: Images, specs leaked online

Samsung is working on unveiling an affordable version – and an extra-large sibling – of its hot-selling new Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone sometime in July, according to reports surfacing online.

Earlier rumours suggested Samsung was working on two iterations of the new Galaxy S4 besides the regular 5-inch model. Now that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been launched and is making waves with customers across the world, Samsung is said to be working on unveiling the other two iterations of the smartphone in a bid to also corner the mini and mega smartphones markets.

According to documents published by Oled-display.net, citing sources from Samsung and Korea Investment & Securities, the Korean giant has ordered 6-inch displays for a possible new flagship device. It is being speculated that this is for the Samsung Galaxy S4 XL version, which the company will be launching to counter criticism that the ‘regular’ Galaxy S4 looks too similar to the Galaxy S3 model.

In addition, technical specifications for the Galaxy S4 Mini too have been leaked by the same source while anonymous Weibo user ‘PunkPanda’, who has in the past been credited with leaking authentic photos of unreleased devices, recently posted supposed images of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

This would suggest that the Galaxy S4 Mini could well be released sooner than the Galaxy S4 XL version, possibly within a couple of months.

The images leaked by @PunkPanda show the Mini version of the Galaxy S4 next to the ‘regular’ Galaxy S4. The S4 Mini is expected to feature a 4.3-inch qHD display, an 8MP rear camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
