Dubai cops seize 6.4kg heroin from farmer

Dubai Police seized 6.4 kg of heroin from a 24-year-old farmer’s house. The stuff was hidden above a second ceiling he had built for his illegal activity.

Police raided the man’s house in Jafiliya neighbourhood and seized the stuff, which was hidden inside capsules and plastic bags ready to be sold to the local market.

Tests also showed the man was taking opium and that he had turned his house into a narcotic distribution centre.

“The operation was conducted on May 2, when police received a tip off that this man had large quantity of narcotics to be sold to young men,” said Major-General Khalil Al Mansouri, Dubai Assistant Police Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation.

Quoted by local newspapers, he said the dealer was hiding the heroin inside small plastic bags, capsules and paper rolls.

Police figures published by Emarat Al Youm daily showed 1,864 people were arrested in Dubai last year in connection with drug dealing.
