15 Cargo Village workers accused of stealing

Nine Filipinos workers at  Cargo Village allegedly stole  consignments  and other six people including two women possessed stolen items despite knowing about their illegal source, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Aged between 25 and 35, the accused were identified as RMS, RJA, JHB, RBD and AJ.

The accused admitted to stealing  consignments and transporting them outside Cargo Village and distributing them among themselves. Those accused of possessing stolen products are identified as MLS, ASP, JLL, FKA, MDM and MRO, aged between 26 and 32.  They confessed to buying some of the stolen products from the accused without asking them about their source.

Nasser Ali Nasser, 35, cargo operator, testified that as the department noticed that a large number of consignments had gone missing during October 2010, it installed extra cameras.

“The camera recorded one of the accused taking consignments and handing them over to other people at the gate without any documents of ownership. Those people transported the consignments outside. They were arrested and they all confessed to stealing the consignments,” he testified. 

Captain Abdullah Faisal testified that Emirates Security notified police about the thefts and suggested cathing the suspects with the help of cameras.

“RMS was seen taking consignments and handing them over to other Filipinos without documents. When confronted RMS confessed to the crimes and lead to the rest of the accused,” he testified.

The court adjourned the case for verdict until January 30.
