Dubai Police found 150 cases of falsification of passports, most of them Bangladeshi, during the past three months, said Hazim Hassan Mahmoud expert of examiner of counterfeit documents at the General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology.

“Some cases are of falsification of electronic passports and some of falsification of personal data in ordinary passports,” he said.

He said there are many ways of falsification of passports such as removal of photo, making changes in personal data with the help of chemicals, replacing pages and creating a new forged passport.

In some cases, people have used valid passports not belonging to the holder.

In the past three months, experts found 150 cases of falsifying the date of birth in valid passports for increasing or decreasing the age of the passport holder.

He added that all people involved in these cases were Bangladeshis.

He warned of forgers using modern technologies. Criminals may develop methods which may help to give them access to the electronic passports, he added.
