A court in Baniyas near Abu Dhabi city sentenced seven Emirati drivers aged between 18 and 24 years to three years and five months in prison for driving recklessly, hiding car plates, endangering lives and abusing policemen.
The seven were arrested near Baniyas in two separate cars reported by residents to be speeding without plates. When police tried to stop the cars, they banged into the patrol vehicles and made an obscene move with their hands before fleeing.
