A customer service employee at Abu Dhabi airport is facing charges of stealing jewelry from a purse which an Asian passenger lost before flying to his home country.
The employee from another Gulf country told court that he was given the purse by another airport worker, but that it was empty.
The passenger, who returned from his annual holidays after 45 days, said the purse contained a gold ring and a pair of earrings worth around Dh4,500.
During hearings on Monday, the defence lawyer asked court to summon witnesses at the airport and to see films from the airport’s security cameras before issuing a sentence. The judge agreed to the request and decided to adjourn hearings to January 25.
