Asian found floating in RAK waters saved

An Asian man believed to have fallen off a foreign vessel in Ras Al Khaimah’s waters was found unconscious and in bad condition by an Emirati fishermen.

Adel Al Zaabi, 40, said he was in boat off the northern emirate’s coast when he saw the man floating in the water nearly seven km away from the beach.

Quoted by Emarat Alyoum daily, he said that he came close to the man and found that he was hardly breathing and had very weak pulse, adding that the man was also bleeding from the nose and limbs.

“He could have been attacked by fish…I think he had been there for nearly two days after he apparently fell off a foreign ship that passed through the emirate’s water without being noticed by his colleagues,” he said.

“I started to give him first aid and tried to resuscitate him through mouth-to-mouth respiration…when he came round, he started to vomit.”

Zaabi said the man was hallucinating and began attacking those who were in the boat before he tied him up and called the police.

“He was in a very bad shape…police came with an ambulance and took him to the hospital,” he said.
