A bid to smuggle 2.5 kg of cocaine into Dubai was foiled by Dubai Customs at Terminal 3 of the emirate's airport.

The cocaine were concealed in a pocket in the lining of the baggage of an African woman who raised suspicion of a Dubai Customs' woman inspector, according to Ali Al-Maghawi, director of passenger operations at Dubai International Airport.

The woman who was on a business trip to Dubai arrived from the capital of an African country, he added.

The suspect denied possession of the drug but was then referred to the Anti-Narcotic Department.
