Brothers attack cop with knives

A gang of three brothers allegedly attacked a policeman and his brother inflicting upon them permanent disability, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

IS, a 22-year-old Emirati officer, testified in court that on October 27, 2012, at about 6.30 am, as he was filling gas at a petrol station he saw three men attack his brother with knives.
 
“I got off my car to rescue my brother. One of the three men assaulted me with the chopper in his hand and the three ran away from the scene. My brother and I were rushed to Rashid hospital for treatment,” he testified.
 
The officer’s brother, MAR, sustained 3 per cent permanent disability due to wounds he sustained in his forehead and his left hand, confirmed medical reports.
 
Corporal Mohammed Ahmad testified that he investigated the accident and MAR had told him that 32-year-old KKM, Emirati, and his two brothers had attacked him with choppers. They also attacked his brother who came to protect him.
 
Dubai Prosecution noted that the accused had a criminal record.
 
The court will issue its verdict on February 25.
