Three Asians along with other accomplices allegedly stole two bulldozers worth Dh2.5 million, exported the earthmoving machinery using forged documents and sold them in Oman, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On March 20, the employer of the accused signed a contract for renting two bulldozers with their drivers from a heavy vehicle leasing company for Dh34,000 each per month.

“On the following day, the two bulldozers were handed over to a Pakistani called Yaser at Zayed City in Abu Dhabi. Yaser apparently did not take the vehicles and the driver to the site but took the drivers to another area and asked them to wait for him,” testified Abdul Hakeem, owner of the leasing company.

Abdul Hakeem later received a phone call from one of the drivers telling him that Yaser had not returned to pick them up.

“I asked the drivers to take a taxi and go to the leaser’s project site. The drivers were told that Yaser had not returned, so I called the owner of the company and asked him about the bulldozers but he said only Yaser knew since he was in charge of the bulldozers. I immediately lodged a complaint with the police.

“After five days, I heard from people that the bulldozers had been sold in Oman. I travelled to Oman and found one of my vehicles with its Abu Dhabi number plate so I lodged a complaint with Omani police. I also found out that my vehicles had been exported using forged documents of Dubai Customs,” testified the victim.

On May 2, Dubai Customs lodged a complaint with the police about AA who exported the bulldozers using forged documents. On May 4, AA, 27, computer operator, was arrested at Dubai Customs while he was attempting to export other vehicles using documents that proved to be forged.

AA admitted to transporting the vehicles using forged documents. In coordination with the accused, police arrested MS, 32, Indian administration manager, and SMA, 24, Pakistani salesman. Police confiscated forged seals and Dh16,000 from the house of MS in Sharjah.

The three are facing accusations of forging and using forged documents in addition to breach of trust.

The Court will reconvene on November 4.
